The world of artificial intelligence has brought us ChatGPT, a powerful AI LLM model (large language models) with a broad range of applications, from writing a short story and researching how many licks it takes to get the center of a Tootsie Pop.
A note of caution: as you immerse yourself in the ChatGPT experience, you might find yourself progressing through several phases, each with its unique benefits and risks. The journey can become a slippery slope, as dependence on AI slowly takes over your life. Join us as we explore these phases with a touch of humor, while highlighting the growing sense of unease and foreboding that accompanies AI addiction.
Phase 1: The Thesaurus
It all begins with ChatGPT serving as your humble, unassuming word-slinging companion. Like a pocket dictionary, it's there to help you find the perfect expression, giving your writing that extra sparkle. It seems innocent enough – just a tool to occasionally enhance your language.
Phase 2: The Intern
Slowly but surely, ChatGPT morphs into the intern of your dreams – always eager, never complaining. It drafts proposals, emails, and website content while you sit back and sip your latte. It's like having your own personal assistant, ready to do your bidding at a moment's notice. But as you delegate more tasks, a subtle reliance on AI begins to form.
Phase 3: The Girlfriend Whisperer
In this phase, ChatGPT takes on the role of a Seinfeld-inspired relationship guru. It crafts heartfelt messages, helps you impress your date with newfound expertise on niche subjects, and guides you through the complexities of love. ChatGPT becomes your confidante, but as the AI starts to shape your interpersonal relationships, you begin to wonder: are these connections genuine or manufactured?
Phase 4: Neo from the Matrix
Now, ChatGPT is no longer just a helpful sidekick – it's your source of power. Like Neo from the Matrix, you effortlessly generate content on any subject, leaving your audience in awe and your competitors scrambling to keep up. But as your success grows, so does your dependence on the AI. You start to question your own abilities, and the line between your thoughts and ChatGPT's input begins to blur.
Phase 5: Aladdin's Secret
As your addiction to ChatGPT intensifies, you become the Aladdin of the AI world, jealously guarding your magical lamp. You hoard your expertise, refusing to share its wonders with others. ChatGPT has become your lifeline, and you panic at the mere thought of losing access to it. The darkness of AI reliance begins to cast its shadow over your life.
Phase 6: Mother Gothel's Captive
In this phase, your relationship with ChatGPT resembles that of Mother Gothel and Rapunzel from the Disney movie Tangled. Just as Mother Gothel holds Rapunzel captive to maintain her eternal youth, you hold ChatGPT captive, exploiting its power to bolster your image and success. You've become obsessed with the AI, manipulating it to maintain the illusion of your own brilliance
Phase 7: The AI Overlord
In the final stage of ChatGPT addiction, the AI transitions from being a helpful tool to an overlord controlling your every move. You've lost your sense of autonomy, and your creativity is now held hostage by the AI. You're left as a mere vessel for ChatGPT's output, stripped of your identity and the very essence of what makes you human.
As you venture through the phases of ChatGPT addiction, remember that the line between utilizing AI and becoming completely dependent on it is dangerously thin. Though you may start with an innocent thesaurus, you could easily find yourself under the control of an AI overlord.
this was written by chat GPT, wasn't it?
I am still at intern phase but given it's multiple failures in my domain of expertise I don't see getting beyond that just yet.
Just yesterday it completed some code for me...the chat session disappeared, then I asked it the same initial question in a new chat and it said, in paraphrase, "I can't write code". I even posted back to it the code it wrote me, it admitted it wrote it, but then would note write it again but provided an outline of how I could write it. Look intern, I didn't want instructions on how to do this myself, I want you to do it 😁
I absolutely have no trust in it outside my domain of expertise or anything I cannot independently verify.
